Job summary:

We are looking for a (Junior) Strategic Designer (all genders) to join our team in Berlin. In this hands-on role, you will focus primarily on ideation and validation to develop innovative solutions that address challenges across travel and mobility ecosystems. You will work closely with our venture teams to bring new concepts to life.

As a (Junior) Strategic Designer, you will be a vital contributor to the innovation process — from the birth of a bold idea to its validation in real-world scenarios. You will be responsible for designing and testing forward-thinking concepts that are aligned with Lufthansa Innovation Hub’s mission to accelerate the next in travel. Your goal is to directly and indirectly guide how the Lufthansa Innovation Hub senses, shapes and seizes potential opportunities. 

You will work on a diverse range of topics and foster our strategic and multi-focal perspective. The overarching goal is to conceptually drive the creation of new digital ventures. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Support and lead creative ideation sessions with venture teams to generate new product and service concepts. Transform raw ideas into tangible outputs such as wireframes, sketches, and low-fidelity prototypes
  • Be responsible for the systematic application of ideation and design methods
  • Work closely with venture teams to validate concepts through user research, experiments, and rapid prototyping. Use data-driven insights and feedback to quickly iterate on ideas
  • Conduct research (desk & field) in the context of travel and mobility to bring actionable insights into the teams
  • Balance customer pains and needs with the business goals and the technical feasibility
  • Plan, participate and conduct workshops with internal and external stakeholders of different backgrounds and seniority levels
  • Foster systematic know-how transfer both within LIH team as well as the Lufthansa Group

 

Profiles:

  • Degree in Design (preferred), Business, Strategy, Marketing or equivalent qualification
  • 2+ years of relevant work experience in Strategic Design, Service or Business Design, and/or UX/UI
  • Proficiency in design and strategy frameworks/methods (eg Lean Startup, Business Model Canvas, Blue Ocean Strategy, customer journeys)
  • Extensive creative and critical thinking ability
  • Research experience: Field and desk, quantitative and qualitative
  • Solid experience in Adobe Suite and MS Office Suite
  • Proven workshop facilitation experience
  • Portfolio of work demonstrating strong human-centered design capabilities across a diverse range of projects 
  • Enthusiastic team player abilities with strong interpersonal and facilitation skills
  • Ability to synthesize research into concrete recommendations and communicate them to relevant audiences
  • Writing and storytelling skills are a plus
