The technologies that will transform aviation
Since the different types of advanced mobility are fairly diverse and therefore not that easy to compare, it can be difficult to get an accurate picture of how mature they are. In order to provide a better understanding of the market, we ranked eight much-hyped future aviation technologies in the Gartner hype-cycle model to predict how the technologies will likely fare in the future. These technologies are autonomous aircraft, supersonic aircraft, airships, air taxis (eVTOLs), space travel, electric aircraft, hydrogen aircraft and Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) - which, strictly speaking, are not a technology, but are nevertheless included because of their great potential.
