Working Student Tech Procurement & Venture Clienting (all genders)

Job summary:  

As a Working Student Tech Procurement & Venture Clienting (f/m/x), you are the link between the Lufthansa Group’s Software & Data Procurement team and Startup Gate, the Venture Clienting program at Lufthansa Innovation Hub. Startup Gate connects business units across the Lufthansa Group with startups to test innovative solutions quickly in pilot projects. 

About 70% of your time is spent in Software & Data Procurement. The remaining 30% you work with our Startup Gate team, helping promising pilot projects move smoothly through procurement. You’ll help design leaner procurement paths for pilot projects and benchmark solutions from the tech ecosystem. 

This means you’ll see both sides: how a corporate procurement organisation buys software and data, and how startups find their way into a global aviation group. 

The position is for 20 hours per week, with the possibility of working up to 40 hours during semester breaks. The initial contract duration is 12 months, with the possibility of extension. The preferred start date is as soon as possible.

Your responsibilities: 

Software & Data Procurement (approx. 70%) 

• Support the steering and allocation of purchase requests and the team’s day-to-day IT procurement operations.

• Analyse procurement data to prioritise and optimise purchasing activities, and conduct market and supplier analyses.

• Build and evaluate KPIs as well as reporting and transparency dashboards.

• Contribute to category, software reseller and data procurement strategies.

• Help improve procurement processes and structures.

Startup Gate (approx. 30%) 

• Shape the collaboration between Startup Gate and procurement, e.g. faster procurement processes for pilot projects, and act as the team’s go-to person for procurement questions.

• Assess and benchmark solutions from the tech ecosystem, from startups to established vendors, together with procurement and IT.

Profile:  

• Currently enrolled at a university in Germany for at least the next 12 months, ideally in Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, Information Systems, Data Science or a related field.

• Strong analytical skills and confidence working with data; experience with Power BI is a plus.

• Genuine interest in procurement and in how large organisations buy software and data, combined with curiosity for the startup ecosystem and new technologies.

• Basic understanding of software licensing and SaaS models is a plus.

• Structured, independent and communicative: you keep track of priorities across two teams and work comfortably with corporate and startup counterparts.

• Confident with collaboration tools (e.g. Microsoft 365, Slack, Notion) and using AI tools in your daily work.

• Fluency in English, fluency in German is a plus.
